Yoga is a great way to relax, unwind and get in touch with yourself. Polly is an experienced and thoughtful teacher who caters for all needs and ages. I have been going to the Brockton Friday morning class for a year now and can say that I have thoroughly enjoyed every lesson! Polly plans a variety of poses, flows, breathing exercises and relaxation for each session. She is very informative about how different yoga poses highlight different parts of the body and cater for various common ailments. I have been attending Polly's yoga classes on a Wednesday evening. I highly recommend her classes. They are a really enjoyable all round experience ranging from stretching those underused muscles; very beneficial breathing exercises; extremely interesting information about the philosophy of yoga and last, but not least, the fantastic relaxation; all of which sends you home a different person to the one that began the lesson. Polly is also a very kind, helpful and enthusiastic teacher whose classes are well-prepared, giving us tremendous variety from week to week, providing different parts of our body and their possible weaknesses with some therapeutic exercise. I have been doing yoga with Polly for over two years now and continue to enjoy each and every class. Having arthritis, I have been so pleased to be able to continue with all the moves. Yoga has also been a great help in keeping me walking in the local hills, and for that too I am very grateful! * * * Having practised yoga on and off for about 40 years under different tutors, I was very relieved to discover Polly's yoga class after we moved to Shropshire. In class, we are given plenty of scope to work to our own individual abilities without fear of competition or judgement. The Pranayama two part course taken by Polly, was a great introduction to helping me understand yoga. Polly s classes are always packed with interest and each week the session is different which helps keep it fresh. Polly's class really is yoga for all! Everyone gets enjoyment and challenge, whether beginner or more experienced, and can benefit, whatever our limitations. I feel better after every class and have noticed lasting benefits in mobility and balance. Helen F
Hello everyone. I’m Jayne and I’ve been going to Polly’s yoga class for just over 12 months. I had never done yoga before and I was 60 years old when I started with several other people new to yoga. Polly is very supportive to each individual’s needs. We are working towards lots of positions (after all we are only human and can’t expect to get there straight away!) Polly always checks that we are doing things correctly and not putting ourselves at risk. At the end of the session, I feel refreshed in body and mind. It has also been very beneficial for the chronic low back pain which I have had for over 20 years. After 6 months of yoga, I found that I no longer needed regular painkillers. As with all exercise if you have an underlying medical condition you should check with your GP before starting . The yoga helps me keep going on a daily basis, with easy to follow exercises to do at home, if you want to! Jayne
Yoga helps maintain a healthy body and mind. The movements practiced and breathing techniques help to keep the body supple and also get rid of toxins. The breathing practice has a calming effect and may reduce feelings of stress. I find practising Yoga improves my sleep, with less disturbed nights.
